An Important Meeting Was Held Within The Framework of International Cooperation

On April 17, 2026, an official meeting was held at the Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sport between the Rector Rashid Matkarimov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Uzbekistan, Siti Ruhaini Juhayatin.

This meeting became another clear example of the steadily developing friendly relations, mutual respect, and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. Today, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Indonesia continues to strengthen in political, economic, cultural, and educational spheres, with particularly wide opportunities for exchange of experience in the field of sports.

During the meeting, Muhammad Mubin Ruziboyev and Sardor Tashhadjayev, who are actively contributing to the development of pencak silat, also took part. A trilateral memorandum of cooperation was signed between the parties.

It was emphasized that currently around 10,000 athletes in Uzbekistan are engaged in pencak silat, with more than 200 coaches actively working in this field. This clearly demonstrates the growing popularity of the sport in the country and the strong support it receives at the state level.

The parties highlighted the importance of further strengthening cooperation with Indonesia, the birthplace of pencak silat. In this regard, discussions were held on launching a “Pencak Silat” specialization at the university, training highly qualified athletes and specialists, developing scientific research activities, and establishing academic exchange programs with leading sports educational institutions in Indonesia.

In addition, views were exchanged on organizing faculty and student exchange programs, joint seminars and training sessions, strengthening cooperation in international competitions, and enhancing bilateral relations through sports diplomacy.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to consistently develop mutually beneficial cooperation, elevate existing relations to a new level, and support joint initiatives in the field of sports.
